Odaily News The federal prosecutor's office in Washington D.C. announced on Friday that 26-year-old Alabama resident Eric Council Jr. has been sentenced to 14 months in prison. Eric Council Jr. has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated identity theft and access device fraud, related to the intrusion of the U.S. SEC's social media accounts. Previously, the U.S. SEC's X account had been hacked and false information was posted, erroneously claiming that a spot Bitcoin ETF had been approved. The false release occurred one day before the actual approval of the spot Bitcoin ETF by the U.S. SEC, which briefly caused market fluctuations. (The Block)
