CoinVoice has recently learned that, according to The Guardian, Iain McNicol, the former General Secretary of the Labour Party and current member of the House of Lords, publicly apologized for violating parliamentary conduct rules.

An investigation revealed that McNicol sent a letter to the Treasury in June 2023 promoting the cryptocurrency company Astra Protocol, at which time he was receiving a monthly consultancy fee from the company. The House of Lords Standards Commissioner, Margaret Obi, determined that this constituted "providing paid parliamentary services," in violation of the MPs' Code of Conduct.
